The Housing and Homeless Coalition of Syracuse and Onondaga County will now be called The Housing and Homeless Coalition of Central New York (HHCCNY) to better accommodate our mergers with Oswego and Cayuga Counties.
February 26, 2017, 12:00pm - February 26, 2017, 2:00pm
A charity fundraiser featuring the crowning of a King/Queen of the Mardi Gras, and a mini-parade in Armory Square! Music by Los Blancos and the NEW Second Line Syracuse UNITY Band! Participating venues include: Empire Brewing Co., Al's Wine & Whiskey Lounge, Funk N Waffles, Clinton St. Pub, Bar, King of Clubs, Modern Malt, and more to come!
All proceeds will go to FoodbankCNY, and the Housing & Homeless Coalition of CNY. Here's how it works: All participating venues will nominate a candidate to be king/queen of the Mardi Gras. Funds will be collected in the candidate's name in special donation buckets supplied to the venues. On Sunday 2/26/17 all the buckets will be brought down to Empire Brewing Co. at 12:30pm for a final push for funds, and a brunch show with The Delinquents. At 2pm we will count the buckets, and when we declare our winner, Second Line Syracuse will march us all up the stairs where our newly dubbed royalty will ascend the throne to receive their crwon and scepter. A mini-parade around the block with Mardi Gras beads and give-aways being tossed from our float will follow, culminating in the party rolling on at Funk N Waffles for the Sunday Jazz Jam showcase with Melissa Gardiner. Our day will wrap up with a special early evening show by Los Blancos at Al's Wine & Whiskey at 6pm. Be on the lookout for donation buckets at your favorite Armory Square venues starting Monday 2/13. We are gonna let Le Bon Temps Rouler all day!
